Wano Akari × Hyakudan Kaidan - Enchanting Fairy Tales - Sept. 14th 2024

I discovered this exhibit while planning some fun activities during my Japan trip. I asked a friend of mine if she would like to go together! I always try to see her whenever I'm in Japan, so thankfully, our schedules matched!

This exhibit runs from July 5th - Sept. 23rd at the Hotel Gajoen Tokyo, so luckily, my travel plans lined up with the running dates. Shop manager Yui of 6%DOKIDOKI told me this hotel was a very popular venue for weddings. When we arrived, I could see exactly why. This hotel was BEAUTIFUL! So many lovely spots to look at and relax in! Entry was also very affordable, so many people can enjoy this exhibit.

(The elevator walls were lovely pieces of artwork and the exhibit entrance had some cat statues greeting you!)

The exhibit space was located on the 2nd floor and is best known for its 100 steps (but actually, it only had 99! This was due to several reasons, one of which being that 100 could potentially show too much perfectionism in the old era, another being that 99 was a better number due to superstitions.) This specific exhibit highlighted some Japanese fairy tales. Each room had its own unique music playing and some even had their own scent (you could purchase the scents and sounds from the gift shop! LOL)

(No shoes allowed in the exhibit!)

I captured some photos throughout the exhibit. There were 7 rooms in total. My favourite room was actually the first room, which was the Bamboo Cutter's Story (also known as Princess Kaguya) I love that story all because of the game Okami and the first time I ever visited Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto in 2014! I plan on visiting there again during this year's trip!
