The second installment of the GHOST GiRL GOODS
pop-up shop in 6%DOKIDOKI!
Now that I am back and fully settled from my trip, it's time to reflect on the pop up experience I had this year! Last year, I had returned to Japan after a few years. (Last time I had gone from that point was early 2020 for BuriDeco: World Lolita Collection.) Since I had such a wonderful time last year, I wanted to come back of course! I used to try and travel to Japan every year and I hope I can do that again. What's funny is that I've actually been able to see my Japanese friends more often overseas!!! This year, I got to see the 6%DOKIDOKI team in LA for Sebastian Masuda's exhibit, as well as at Tekko! Then I also got to see Hisacy of HYPER CORE in my home country! (He came to Otakuthon in Montreal!) He will also be a guest this year at Sin City Anime.

When I decided to return to Japan, 6%DOKIDOKI welcomed me back to have another pop-up shop! I was thrilled to be able to have another chance to sell my products alongside 6%DOKIDOKI products~! I also had a chance to meet some new shop staff and see familiar faces~ And now I know for sure that pink items are the most favoured for people visiting 6%DOKIDOKI haha! All my pink items sold out first!
(First day set up with all items VS final day remaining stock before clean up!)
On one of the nights after working, we all enjoyed okonomiyaki at a nearby restaurant called Sakura-Tei, which is actually connected to Design Festa Gallery. In these moments, its always so fun to celebrate after a day of working~
I'm thankful to the many customers who came by and purchased some of my items! Its so cool to see what items are more preferred in the various places I visit~! I'm so glad that GHOST GiRL GOODS can be enjoyed by so many people around the world. I mainly got to work with @pea_o0, @communitycryptid, and @umeboshioshi.
The final day of the pop-up, we concluded with a group dinner and we also got snaps with Tokyo Fashion!
- HARAJUKU KAWAII EXHIBITION -
While making my plans for Japan, I actually discovered a pop-up event happening at Design Festa Gallery called Harajuku Kawaii Exhibition! I figured it would be perfect for me to display some more items and also advertise my pop-up at 6%DOKIDOKI! Since I had just finished a new collaboration, I thought this would be the perfect place to display it!
This collaboration, TOKYO x TORONTO Sticker Wall, features stickers created by 9 different Japanese artists, including my friend Shigetomo Yamamoto, who I've collaborated with previously with his brand MONSTER GiRL. You can read all about it in this blog post. The collab was well received and sold out of some sizes!
I also prepared a bunch of colourful headpieces and some plush GHOST GiRL keychains! All these items are made in Canada and handmade by small teams!
The great part about exhibiting at Design Festa Gallery was also the fact I didn't have to physically be there to collect sales! The gallery can handle the sales of artists, so they can freely display their goods while also going about their daily life. Its such a convenient thing for participants!
I was surrounded by so many other cute artists and everyone was very friendly! I tried to introduce myself to everyone there~ By the end of the event, all of us artists became a bit closer. I made sure to also support them too!
On the last day of the event, the organizer took a group photo of all the artists!
The full list of all artists!
In conclusion, there is yet another wonderful life moment in the books! I am so grateful for my time in Japan and I am thankful for every opportunity that I've been able to pursue. My friends at 6%DOKIDOKI, Design Festa Gallery's public exhibitions and spaces, the new friends I make. I truly feel like I am making my dreams come true more and more each year as I continue to work hard every day and strive for the best. Thank you to the people around me for following my journey, encouraging me, and cheering me on. I hope that I can continue to keep making more magic happen in my life! Until then . . .
BE STRANGE. FEAR THE NORM.
